Bogande: Celebrating academic merit, a source of motivation and resilience. The province of Gnagna celebrated, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the Provincial Day of Excellence. The event was held under the theme: ‘Celebrating Excellence in Schools: A Source of Motivation for Learners and Education Stakeholders in the DPEPPNF-Gnagna, Despite a Challenging Security Context.’
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was chaired by the High Commissioner of the province, Mr. Jean Baptiste Beogo. It recognized students, teachers, supervisors, and partners for their merit and commitment to education. The Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) aimed to highlight the work of those involved in the education system and encourage perseverance despite the challenges posed by the security situation.
Awards of excellence were presented to deserving individuals including students, literacy learners, teachers, supervisors, school principals, and CEB (Basic Education Center) officials. Wards of the nation, as well as internally displaced and vulnerable students, also received special recognition. Some award winners received school kits, while top performers were awarded bicycles and scholarships. Distinguished teachers received motorcycles, with the two best teachers in the province being honored.
Mr. Seydou Maiga of the Dabesma school (Piela CEB) achieved a 100% pass rate for 80 candidates and was named the best teacher in Gnagna. Ms. Tindano/Haro Essita of the Bantia school, with a 95.45% pass rate, was also recognized as one of the best teachers. The top students in the CEP (Primary School Leaving Certificate) exam were Bourgou Jean Louis and Sawadogo Wendkouni Nelson, who achieved outstanding averages.
Special mention was made of BIR 19 for ensuring the safe transport of teaching staff to the CEBs of Manni and Coalla, facilitating the academic year’s start. The commander of BIR 19 received a letter of congratulations from the Regional Directorate of Education for their efforts.
In his address, High Commissioner Jean Baptiste Beogo commended the determination and courage of all involved in the education system despite security challenges. He encouraged continued efforts to provide quality education for all children in Gnagna and applauded the initiative to recognize wards of the nation.
Provincial Director of Education, Mr. Sylvain Thiombiano, expressed gratitude to various authorities and the people of Gnagna Province for contributing to the event’s success. He reaffirmed his commitment to mobilizing and motivating the heads of Basic Education Centers to ensure high educational performance.
Mr. Mamoudou Mano, representing the sponsors, reiterated their support and encouragement for those involved in education for the future of Gnagna’s children. He congratulated everyone for the outstanding results in the Primary Education Certificate (CEP) exams.
This day of excellence, marked by strong participation and pride, highlighted the resilience and determination of those involved in education. Eyes are now on the 2026 edition, with hopes for an even more inclusive and inspiring celebration.
