Audience with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Niger, Mrs. Diana Louise Ofwona

The President of the Republic, Head of State, HE Mr. Mohamed Bazoum, received Thursday morning, June 2, 2022, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Niger, Mrs. Diana Louise Ofwona.

The exchanges focused on the security situation in the Lake Chad Basin, said Ms. Diana Ofwona, recalling that President Mohamed Bazoum had been invited last December by the UNDP to chair a meeting on the regeneration of the Sahel.

“We discussed a lot on the Lake Chad Basin, particularly on the stabilization project,” she said, stressing that HE Mr. Mohamed Bazoum was, at the time, Chairman of the Steering Committee for this project.

The Steering Committee bringing together four countries of the Lake Chad Basin will meet next week, she announced, adding that she had informed the Head of State of the work in progress with regard to the second axis of stabilization, in particular Tillabéry and Bankilaré where she went yesterday Wednesday.

The UNDP Resident Representative in Niger took the opportunity to thank the President of the Republic for these “very fruitful exchanges”, for his support and for the “so close and fruitful” collaboration between UNDP and Niger.
