Kpando: Mr. Francis Darku, the Assembly Member for the Konda/Abanu Electoral Area in the Kpando Municipality, has undertaken a working visit to two Junior High Schools in the electoral area to encourage and support final-year pupils ahead of the upcoming 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
According to Ghana News Agency, the visits to Konda JHS and Abanu JHS form part of Mr. Darku’s broader initiative to promote educational advancement and student well-being in the community. During his interactions with pupils and teachers, Mr. Darku listened to concerns affecting effective teaching and learning.
To motivate and equip the final-year pupils, who soon would be taking the BECE, Mr. Darku donated vital examination materials, including mathematical sets, pens, and long rulers, to all the candidates. A total of 60 candidates, comprising 35 from Konda JHS and 25 from Abanu JHS, received the materials.
While commending the dedication of staff and students, Mr. Darku expressed serious concern about the poor infrastructure at Abanu Primary and JHS, noting that the classroom block becomes uninhabitable during rainfall due to frequent flooding. He described the situation as a major setback to academic work and called on the Kpando Municipal Assembly, the central government, and benevolent organizations to provide urgent support for renovation.
The visit was attended by Unit Committee members and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) representatives, reflecting strong community interest in the educational development of the area. Mr. Darku reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to advocating for improved educational conditions and ensuring that every child in Konda and Abanu has access to quality education in a safe and supportive environment.
