Asante Akim South GNAT Hosts 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference with Leadership Elections

Juaso: The Asante Akim South Municipal branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) recently convened its 7th Quadrennial (54th) District Delegates Conference at Juaso. This significant event gathered key figures from various levels of the education sector to engage in strategic discussions and planning for the future.

According to Ghana News Agency, the conference saw the attendance of notable personalities such as Madam Amenda Lucy Asamoah, GNAT National Vice President, Ms. Elizabeth Davis, Municipal Director of Education, Madam Ishmaelia Crentsil of Juaso SHTS, and Mr. Prosper Tachie, Ashanti Regional Chairman of GNAT. Mr. Ishmael Arkoh Mantey, serving as both Municipal Chairman and chairman of the conference, delivered a detailed report on the progress and achievements over the past four years. His leadership has seen the establishment of two new locals, the construction of a new secretariat, and a boost in membership from 1,307 to 1,430.

Delegates at the conference deliberated on and ado
pted several resolutions aiming to enhance member welfare. Among these were the expansion of cancer support coverage to include members’ children above 18 years, a reduction in interest rates on loans, and the provision of timely financial assistance to members.

Madam Amenda Lucy Asamoah, as the Guest Speaker, praised the achievements and reiterated GNAT’s commitment to advancing teacher development and welfare. Other speakers echoed these sentiments, encouraging the union to continue its dedication to fostering educational excellence.

The conference concluded with a renewed sense of unity and purpose among the members, reaffirming GNAT’s mission to support educators and elevate educational standards across the district.
