DHLTU Celebrates First Batch of Bachelor of Technology Graduates

According to Ghana News Agency:ccording to Ghana News Agency, a total of 72 students, comprising 51 males and 21 females, graduated from the BTech programs in Agricultural Engineering, Hospitality, Catering and Social Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Additionally, the university celebrated the graduation of 495 students from various Higher National Diploma (HND) programs, consisting of 313 males and 182 females, bringing the total number of graduates to 568.

Mr. Cyprian Daguah, a standout graduate from the BTech in Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management program, was recognized as the overall best graduating student with a Grade Point Average of 4.71. Speaking at the congregation in Wa, Professor Elias N. K. Sowley, the Vice Chancellor of DHLTU, highlighted that the university currently offers eleven bachelor’s degree programs. He further announced that the university had received clearance to introduce the Master of Technology in Mechanical Engineering and Management and the Master of Technology in Education and Conservation Agriculture in the next academic year.

Prof. Sowley also mentioned that the Master of Science in Construction Engineering and Management program was nearing the final stage of accreditation. He revealed plans to develop two master’s programs, Master of Science in Agroecology and Food Systems and Master of Science in Waste Management, under the European Union-funded projects undertaken by the school. He urged the government to provide financial clearance for the recruitment of additional staff to support the BTech programs.

The Vice Chancellor noted that DHLTU has signed 30 Memoranda of Understanding with various organizations, institutions, and industry partners to enhance academic programs, promote research and innovation, and provide opportunities for students and faculty members. He also announced a partnership with the City of Glasgow College, UK, under the Global Skills Partnership Project sponsored by the British Council to facilitate staff exchange programs.

Prof. Julius N. Fobil, the Chairperson of the University Council, emphasized the mandate of technical universities like DHLTU to produce personnel with practical knowledge in science and technology, contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development. He urged graduates to apply the knowledge and skills acquired at the university to positively impact their lives and society.

Mr. Charles Lwanga Puozuing, the Upper West Regional Minister, promised to facilitate the provision of suitable hostels for the school. He praised the staff and management of DHLTU for their dedication to maintaining quality amidst infrastructural and logistical challenges.
