Ouagadougou: The 3rd edition of the Fitness Show will be held from September 4 to 7, 2025, in Ouagadougou, on the theme ‘Fitness and Seniors: Well-being and Vitality at Any Age’ to promote the practice of sport and popularize the profession of sports coach, the organizing committee announced on Monday. From September 4 to 7, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., at the Place de la Nation in Ouagadougou, sports coaches from several African countries will celebrate sport in general and introduce the concepts of fitness in particular.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Fitness Fair was initiated to promote health and social cohesion through sport, with an emphasis on the physical, mental, and social health of the elderly. The president of the organizing committee, Alex Palle, stated that the third edition of the Salon innovates with major activities, notably the intergenerational walk allowing parents and grandparents to do sport over 5 km with their children or grandchildren. He mentioned that this innovation aims to promote sports practice among the elderly and motivate those who do not, especially young people, to take it up.
A fitness session at the Thomas Sankara Memorial and a concert by musicians will also be part of the special features of this edition, according to the organizers. Chaired by the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Roland Somda, the third edition of the Show will see the participation of several sports coaches from Africa, notably from Congo-Kinshasa, Guinea-Conakry, and Mali, the guest country of honor.
Various activities are on the program for this edition, including exhibitions and competitions to designate the best sports coach who will win the “Lionel Zombre Prize”, as well as performances by musical artists, announced the general commissioner, Christelle Ouedraogo/Zombre.
