HM the King Congratulates Portuguese President on National Day


Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI has sent a message of congratulations to President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, on the occasion of his country’s National Day.

The Sovereign expresses, in the message, his warmest congratulations and his best wishes for good health and happiness to President Rebelo de Sousa, wishing the friendly portuguese people continued progress and prosperity.

HM the King welcomes the excellent relations of friendship between Morocco and Portugal and reaffirms his strong determination to continue joint action to strengthen bilateral cooperations so as to fulfil the aspirations of the two peoples.

Casablanca Stock Exchange Starts on High Note


Casablanca – – The Casablanca Stock Exchange began trading higher on Monday, with its main index, the MASI, rising by 0.18% reaching 13,220.89 points.

On Friday, the MASI closed with a loss of 0.35% at 13,197.04 points.

Morocco Participates in 175th FAO Session in Rome


Rome – The 175th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations commenced on Monday in Rome, with Morocco actively participating. The session, which runs until June 14, addresses key issues related to global food security and agricultural initiatives.

Morocco’s delegation is led by Ambassador Youssef Balla, the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the UN agencies in Rome. The team includes Redouane Arrach, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests; Abdellah Larhmaid, Deputy Permanent Representative; and Reda Ayouch, Director of Strategy and Statistics at the Ministry of Agriculture.

During the session, the Moroccan delegation underscored the significance of the 33rd FAO Regional Conference for Africa, which took place in Rabat from April 18 to 20, 2024. They lauded the outcomes of the conference, highlighting it as a pivotal platform for African nations to reaffirm their commitment to sustainable agricultural
growth and to bolster the FAO’s role in this endeavor.

As the newly appointed President of the FAO Conference for Africa for the next two years, Morocco emphasized the collective dedication of African countries to contribute to agricultural development in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda.

The Moroccan delegation also called on the FAO to enhance its partnership with African member states to optimize their efforts, particularly regarding the implementation of the post-Malabo action plan within the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).

The 175th FAO Council session will tackle critical topics, including global food security challenges, the effects of geopolitical events on food systems, and the execution of regional agricultural initiatives.

The FAO Council, consisting of 49 members including Morocco, serves as the executive arm of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, overseeing the implementation of its programs and polic
ies.

Government Council to Convene on Wednesday


Rabat – A Council of Government meeting will be held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, according to a statement by his department.

The Council will start its proceedings by examining two bills, the first of which concerns the dissolution of the National League for the Fight against Cardiovascular Diseases, while the second concerns the film industry and the reorganization of the Moroccan Film Center (CCM).

It will then examine a draft decree amending and supplementing the decree on the creation and organization of regional education and training centers.

The Council will conclude its work by examining proposals for appointments to higher office, in accordance with article 92 of the Constitution.

FM Hosts Central African Peer, Bearer of Written Message to His Majesty the King from Republic’s President


Rabat – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, received Sylvie Baïpo-Temon, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie, and Central Africans Abroad, on Monday in Rabat. She was carrying a written message addressed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI from Central African Republic President Faustin-Archange Touadéra.

During a press briefing following the meeting, Baïpo-Temon praised “the excellent cooperation that the Kingdom of Morocco and the Central African Republic have maintained for a very long time,” emphasizing that this cooperation is not only friendly but also fraternal.

She also took the opportunity to express her heartfelt thanks to the Kingdom of Morocco for its various supports to the efforts undertaken by the Central African Republic in the context of the crisis recovery process.

The minister conveyed her country’s desire to further strengthen the excellent relations between Morocco and the Central African Republic in line with the direct
ions of the two Heads of State.
