As 20 melhores universidades de IA formam a primeira turma de Ph.D.

101 formandos impulsionam o ecossistema de IA dos Emirados Árabes Unidos com avanços em pesquisa, desenvolvimento e aplicações comerciais – criando um centro tecnológico de IA do Sul Global

ABU DHABI, Emirados Árabes Unidos, June 08, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Sua Alteza Xeque Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Príncipe Herdeiro de Abu Dhabi e Presidente do Conselho Executivo de Abu Dhabi, participou da cerimônia de formatura de 2024 da Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) em 6 de junho, na qual foram diplomados 101 alunos de 22 países, que receberam títulos de pós-graduação nas principais áreas de IA, incluindo visão computacional (CV), aprendizado de máquina (ML) e processamento de linguagem natural (NLP).

O evento também contou com a presença de Sua Excelência o Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Ministro da Indústria e Tecnologia Avançada dos Emirados Árabes Unidos e Presidente Fundador do Conselho de Administração da MBZUAI, além de outras autoridades.

A terceira e maior formatura da MBZUAI celebrou o primeiro Ph.D. da universidade em ML, além de mestres em ML (55), CV (28) e PNL (12), contando com alunos provenientes de países como Emirados Árabes Unidos, Canadá, Reino Unido, França, Índia, Vietnã, Paquistão, Etiópia e Sri Lanka.

L’université classée parmi les 20 premières dans le domaine de l’IA décerne le diplôme de Ph.D. à sa première promotion

Au total, 101 diplômés dynamisent l’écosystème de recherche, de développement et d’applications commerciales de l’IA aux Émirats arabes unis, créant ainsi un pôle technologique de l’IA dans le Sud global

ABU DHABI, Émirats arabes unis, 08 juin 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Son Altesse Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prince héritier d’Abu Dhabi et Président du Conseil exécutif d’Abu Dhabi, ont assisté le 6 juin à la cérémonie de remise des diplômes 2024 de l’Université Mohamed bin Zayed d’intelligence artificielle (MBZUAI), récompensant 101 diplômés originaires de 22 pays, qui ont obtenu des diplômes de troisième cycle dans des domaines clés de l’IA, notamment la vision artificielle (CV), l’apprentissage automatique (ML) et le traitement du langage naturel (NLP).

Son Excellence Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, ministre de l’Industrie et des technologies avancées des Émirats arabes unis et président fondateur du conseil d’administration du MBZUAI, a également assisté à l’événement, parmi d’autres dignitaires.

En effet, si nous voulons atteindre les objectifs ambitieux du consensus historique des Émirats arabes unis adopté lors de la COP28 en décembre à Dubaï, l’IA doit jouer un rôle essentiel. »

À l’occasion de sa troisième et plus grande cérémonie de remise des diplômes, l’université MBZUAI a décerné ses premiers diplômes de doctorat (Ph.D.), ainsi que des maîtrises en apprentissage automatique (55), vision artificielle (28) et traitement du langage naturel (12), aux étudiants originaires de pays tels que les Émirats arabes unis, le Canada, le Royaume-Uni, la France, l’Inde, le Vietnam, le Pakistan, l’Éthiopie et le Sri Lanka.

Lack of resources poses challenge for startups


Madam Arian Simeone, the Founder of Fearless Foundation, says lack of resources, including education, network and mentorship poses a significant challenge for startups in the ecosystem.

The Fearless Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides capital, community, mentorship, and education to women entrepreneurs. 

She said without access to quality educational resources tailored for entrepreneurship and business management, founders may lack the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of starting and growing a business, hence the need for education.

‘This includes understanding market dynamics, financial management, marketing strategies, and legal compliance,’ she said.

‘In regions where entrepreneurship education is lacking, aspiring founders may struggle to develop viable business models and effectively execute their ideas.’

Madam Simeone was speaking to the Ghana News Agency at an engagement in Accra with entrepreneurs from MESTAfrica.

ills training, funding, and support in software development, business, and communications to Africa’s tech entrepreneurs.

Her engagement with the organization has resulted in GHS 20,000.00 grant to be given to one local entrepreneur whose creativity resonates with Arian Simeone’s mission.

She said building a strong network of contacts within the industry was crucial for startups to access opportunities for partnerships, collaborations, and customer acquisition.

Mentorship played a pivotal role in guiding startup founders through the various stages of growth, providing practical advice, feedback, and encouragement based on the mentor’s own experiences.

‘Without access to experienced mentors who can offer guidance on strategy, decision-making, and problem-solving, founders may struggle to navigate uncertainties and make informed choices,’ Madam Simeone said.

She said the startup space in Ghana was more than expected, looking at the varieties of talents on the African continent, producing great tech entrepr
eneurs.

NCCE inspires young minds to build a better Ghana


The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged students of Methodist D/A Junior High School at Adidome in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region as part of their Citizenship Week Celebrations.

The event on the theme: ‘Children, Let’s Build Ghana Together,’ aimed to instill patriotism, civic responsibility, and peaceful coexistence among the young learners.

Madam Victoria Afi Bosson, the Principal Civic Education Officer of the NCCE, led the engagement, explaining the significance of the celebration and the importance of the 1992 Constitution in Ghana’s democracy.

She emphasized the duties of a citizen, as outlined in Article 41(a-k) of the Constitution and encouraged the students to embrace volunteerism and community service as ways to make a positive impact.

Madam Bosson urged the students to be patriotic citizens and ensure unity despite cultural and tribal differences.

She also charged them to become ambassadors of peace, especially during the upcoming general elections.

‘We o
nly have one Ghana, and these young learners have a role to play by preaching peace wherever they go,’ she emphasized.

The students were inspired by the interactive session, which aimed to shape their minds and empower them to contribute to building a better Ghana.

Some of the students told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the engagement was educative and it would assist them to become active contributors to Ghana’s progress.

They pledged their commitment to playing integral roles in promoting peace in the country.

Petroleum Commission green’s Diabene SHS in Takoradi


The Western Regional office of the Petroleum Commission (PC) has planted variety of trees to enhance the ecology of the Diabene Senior High School in the Essikado/Ketan Constituency of the Western Region.

The PC team, led by Mr. Alfred Ayah, Regional Manager, Madam Sekyiwaa Darko, the Community Relations Officer and other management staff took turns to plant some of the species in and around the school compound to create a hedge as well as improve upon the aesthetic of the school.

The petroleum Commission provided 200 coconut seedlings, 200 oil palm seedlings and 200 of assorted timber trees for the project, which was in line with government’s agenda to replenish the vegetative cover to improve climatic conditions in the country.

The Western Regional Manager of the Petroleum Commission said the trees when well nurtured would improve the ecology, economic aspect of the school life and also the general environment.

He tasked the students to take good care of the trees for the future.

Reverend Peter Bontha
Kisseih, the Headmaster of the School, was grateful to the Petroleum Commission for supporting the school.

He said the school was currently in dire need of education infrastructure to change its fortunes for the best.

Reverend Kisseih called on all well-meaning Ghanaians, education stakeholders and philanthropists and organisations to support the school.

Master Samuel Kofi Asamoah, an Agriculture student said the extension practices, including mulching, watering and running where applicable would be strictly adhered to for the trees to develop.
