Women Encouraged to Prepare for Opportunities, Says CEO of Acquatic Foods

Accra: Mrs. Mabel Ibidun Quarshie, the Chief Executive Officer of Acquatic Foods Limited, has called on women to actively prepare and strive to seize opportunities rather than waiting for affirmative actions to benefit them. As the president of the African Women in Agribusiness (AWIAB), she emphasized the importance of women earning their positions based on merit rather than being given quotas.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Quarshie highlighted the necessity for women to obtain the requisite qualifications and work towards their goals. She urged women to demonstrate their capability and willingness to learn, stating, “Know what you want to do; why will they prefer you as a woman over others? Prove that you have the capacity to do so.”

She noted that opportunities exist, but women need to be proactive in accessing them. Encouraging women to push harder, she advised them to think creatively and engage in dialogue to overcome cultural limitations. “It’s not a fight between men and women, but rather reason with them to get what you need,” she remarked.

Addressing the subject of entrepreneurship, Mrs. Quarshie pointed out that many businesses fail within the first three years. She advised women to not only start businesses but also to adopt good entrepreneurship skills to tackle challenges, manage customers, and address staff issues effectively.
