Violence push Burkinabes to flee to neighbouring Niger

On May 11th, gunmen in Cheriba, Western Burkina Faso, killed at least 33 people. The country has been battling an extremist insurgency since 2015 and security has been particularly bad over the last few months. Thousands of people have fled the ramped up violence and headed into neighbouring Niger.
